It seems that things are just getting worse for much-chastised Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Ahmad Maslan as former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has joined in the chorus of criticism against him.
He has already been on the receiving end of a barrage of criticism from the public for some time now, up to the extent of him being one of the prime targets for internet memes (read here).
But a local news portal today reports Mahathir as saying Ahmad as someone who does not know anything about finance. He even went as far as claiming the Pontian MP should not be given the responsibility of managing the country’s finances.
Previously, Ahmad had stated that Mahathir lacks understanding on the newly implemented Good and Service Tax (GST).
“The GST percentage is much lower than SST. So, how can he (Mahathir) say it’s better for the government to cancel GST?” he said referring to Mahathir's widely publicized view on the matter.
